FRANKLIN COUNTY TRIPS HERITAGE

Carlos Holland hit a layup and sank a free throw with three seconds left as Franklin County edged Heritage 66-65 in a non-district boys' basketball game Thursday night.

Franklin County (8-6) trailed by four points at halftime and two before Holland's shots. The Eagles missed 13 free throws in the game after making 40 of 51 in their past two contests.

Chad Foutz led Franklin County with 21 points. Holland had 15, Jason Conklin scored 14 and K.C. Hancock added 10.

Rod Farmer led Heritage (2-8) with 26 points. \

Buckingham 69

BEDFORD - The Minutemen (12-2, 12-2) took a 12-point lead with five minutes to go, then scored just one point the rest of the way as they held off the Knights (6-7, 6-7) in the Seminole District.

Lewis Jones had a chance to put Buckingham in front when he missed the front end of a one-and-one with seven seconds to go. The Knights grabbed the rebound and called time out, but Franklin James' 12-footer at the buzzer rolled out.

Bruce Jacobs led Liberty with 14 points, Stephen Schrader and Craig Coleman had 13 apiece and J.J. Coles added 11.

Jones finished with a game-high 18 points for Buckingham. Antoine Alston scored 16. \
