WOMEN'S COLLEGE CHOOSES NEW PRESIDENT

Kathleen G. Bowman, the University of Oregon's vice provost for international affairs, has been named president of Randolph-Macon Woman's College, it was announced Friday.

Bowman will replace Linda Koch Lorimer as president May 16. She also will be a professor of international relations at the private Lynchburg school.

Bowman joined Oregon's administration in 1985. She helped develop major international programs at Oregon, including creation of the International College for undergraduates, school administrators said Friday.

Bowman helped build Oregon's Center for Asian and Pacific Studies and the Southeast Asian Studies program.

Before taking her current job at Oregon, Bowman served as associate vice president for research. Research support doubled during her tenure at the university, officials said.
