OBIT--NEAL, WOODROW JAMES, ("JIM")
NEAL, Woodrow James, ("Jim"), 79, of Carson City, Nev., died Sunday,
January 30, 1994, his residence following a lengthy illness. A native of Surry
County, North Carolina, he was born October 19, 1914, the eldest son of Joseph
William and Maude Johnson Neal. They preceded him in death. His first wife,
Cleo Dean also preceded him in death. He is survived by their son, James
Michael Neal of Porterville, Calif. Neal attended and graduated schools in
Surry County, N.C. and Appalachian State University, Boone, N.C. He served in
the U.S. Army Air Force prior to WW II, worked at Martin Aircraft in
Baltimore, Md., and during WW II worked for the U.S. Navy Dept., in the Panama
Canal Zone. Following WW II, he owned and operated several businesses in N.C.,
Va., and Las Vegas, Nev. He was a licensed building contractor and private
pilot. Following his retirement in 1964, he lived in Sacramento County, Calif.
for eight years. He has lived in Carson City Nev. for the past 20 years.
Surviving are his wife, Rita of Carson City, Nev.; a stepdaughter, ElRita
Annett; and stepgrandchildren, Jeremy Kemp and Mirina Brown of Milford, Del.;
a sister, Faye Simms of Winston-Salem, N.C.; a brother, Robert B.; and three
nephews, Joe, C. Mitchell and John L. Neal of Las Vegas, Nev. At the
deceased's request, there will be no funeral or memorial service. Cremation
will be at FitzHenry's Funeral Home and Crematory, Carson City, Nev. Memorials
may be made to the Carson City Library Foundation, Inc., 900 N. Roop St.,
