DALTON WINS PHOTO AWARD

Roanoke Times & World-News photographer Gene Dalton won a first-place award in the annual Virginia News Photographers Association competition in Richmond on Friday.

Dalton won in the editorial illustration category, one of the 15 categories in which 64 photographers competed.

Beth Bergman of The Virginian-Pilot and The Ledger-Star was named photographer of the year by the VNPA.
