JAMES RIVER WINS DISTRICT WRESTLING

James River wrestlers won five individual championships, pacing the Knights to the team title in the Pioneer District tournament Saturday.

John Lepard (103), Randy Brown (130), Todd Washington (140), John Blankenship (145) and Kevin Perry (171) all won titles as the Knights edged Parry McCluer 179-163 1/2. Defending champion Glenvar was third with 128 points.

Eleven of James River's 13 wrestlers placed among the top four to advance to next weekend's Region C tournament at Glenvar High School. Parry McCluer had six individual titlists and advanced 11 wrestlers to the regional tournament.
