OBIT THOMAS, S.D.
THOMAS, S. D., ("Sam"), 80, of Roanoke, died in a Roanoke hospital, Friday,
February 4, 1994. He was a member of the Roanoke Valley Baptist Temple,
retired from Life & Casualty Insurance Company, and a former employee of
Oakey's Roanoke Chapel. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of the
VFW. Surviving are his wife, Lois Gibson Thomas, Roanoke; son and
daughter-in-law, Jerry B. Shaver and Virginia A. Shaver, Daleville; grandson,
Jay Shaver; granddaughter, Angie Shaver; brother and sister-in-law, A.M.
(Tobe) Thomas and Elva Thomas, Roanoke; three sisters, Lotas Poff, Shawsville,
Wilma Howell and husband, Harold Howell, Huddleston, Doris Trump, Roanoke;
sister-in-law, Madeline Thomas, Salem; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel, noon Monday, by
Dr. L. Ray Board. Burial will be in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Friends may
call at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel after noon Saturday.
