HOME SALES IN VIRGINIA INCREASE SLIGHTLY IN '93

The sales pace of homes in Virginia ended 1993 about even with 1992, despite a surge at the end of the year.

The Virginia Association of Realtors last week reported its members sold 63,930 houses last year, 0.1 percent over the 63,886 sales contracts written in 1992. In December, the statewide total was 3,587, 5 percent ahead of 3,417 in December 1992.

"These figures confirm the commonwealth's strengthening economy," said Edwin Hall, a Roanoke commercial realty broker and association president. "With the change in the state's administration and its emphasis on economic development, we believe that growth in the real estate industry will continue for some time."
