OBIT CRAIGHEAD, IRIS BARKER

CRAIGHEAD, Iris Barker, ("Granny"), 74, of Roanoke, died Saturday, February 5, 1994 after a lengthy illness. She was Roanoke Valley's Mother of the Year in Family Life in 1992. She was co-owner of Craighead Dry Cleaners and retired from Halmodes and Kroger Co. Mrs. Craighead was known affectionately as "Granny" and the widow of E.L. "Junior" Craighead. Survivors include a son, B.W. "Ben" Robertson; daughters, Carol Campbell and Joyce Marlene Begley, all of Roanoke. Other loving relatives and caretakers include Amy-Carol Robertson, Ernie Hartman, Bud W. and Donna Mack, Lillian Barker, Bunny Meadows, A.R. Campbell, Charley Snelling and Anthony Wenzel; three brothers and three sisters, Gladys McDonald, Virginia Beach, D.J. Barker Jr., Woodstock, Pauline B. Ruddell, Rehoboth Beach, Del., Dewey R. Barker, Bedford, Ind., H. Warren Barker, Roanoke, Ramona Tickle Godsey, New Castle; her grandchildren, Donna Mack, Benny and Danny Robertson, Christy, Neil and Beth Campbell, George and Charley Begley; four great-grandchildren, Emily and Isaac Mack, Lauren and Karley Robertson. Funeral services will be held at New Hope Christian Church 3 p.m. Wednesday, February 9, 1994 with the Rev. David M. Derrow and W. Wilson Jamison-Minister officiating. Interment will be in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at Lotz Roanoke Chapel after 2 p.m. Monday and all day Tuesday.
