ROANOKE VALLEY ECONOMIC INDICATORS

January's ice had an impact on local home sales, but the president of the Roanoke Valley Association of Realtors thinks the long-term impact will be negligible.

Tim Garrison said 1994 should be in excellent year because of moderate interest rates and a stable local economy. The group said 231 homes were placed under contract, off 8.3 percent from 252 the prior January. The median home price was $82,500 and the average home was on the market 90 days.
