HOLLIE'S SHOT LIFTS NARROWS

Brandon Hollie banked in a halfcourt 3-pointer at the buzzer to lift Narrows to a 78-77 Mountain Empire District victory over Fort Chiswell in boys' basketball Monday.

The Green Wave trailed 77-75 with three seconds remaining, and Fort Chiswell's Jody Burnett was at the free-throw line attempting a one-and-one.

After Burnett's shot missed, Brett Mosley grabbed the rebound and passed to Hollie for the game-winner. It was Hollie's only field-goal attempt.

Patrick Bailey led Narrows (5-9 overall, 5-7 district) with 25 points, and Bryan Pruett added 21. Scott Vaught chipped in 16 points, and Norman Perkins grabbed nine rebounds for the Green Wave.

Burnett led the Pioneers with 24 points.

\ Carlisle 90\ Timberlake Christian 71

MARTINSVILLE - Rod Mitchell pumped in 19 points to lead the Chiefs to a Virginia Independent Conference victory over the Tornadoes.

Kevin Warren added 15 points for Carlisle (5-13, 3-7).

Warren and Mitchell made three 3-pointers apiece, and Carlisle made 11 of 20 from beyond the arc.
