ROANOKE MAIN ST. SOON TO BE REPAVED

Relief is on the horizon for motorists who have endured four months of delays and patched pavement on Main Street Southwest in Roanoke.

Crews worked Monday to complete patching pavement along the commuter route, which was torn up to replace a water transmission line.

Also Monday, City Council voted to spend $79,353 to repave the entire stretch of Main Street from Howbert Avenue to Brandon Avenue.

The deadline for completion is April 27.

The pavement must be smooth by May 9, when bicyclists competing in the Tour DuPont will pedal down Main Street as part of the Roanoke leg of the race.
