OBIT PHILLIPS, ETHEL AKERS

PHILLIPS, Ethel Akers, 84, of Fries and formerly of Willis passed away Sunday, February 6, 1994, in a Galax Nursing Home. Survivors include four sisters, Madeline Walker, Galax, Clara Scaggs, Floyd, Nellie Poff, Galax, Hattie Akers, Floyd; one sister-in-law, Livie Akers, Christiansburg; two nephews, Donald Poff, Syracuse, N.Y., Dan Poff Jr., Bassett; four nieces, Ruth Vernon, Fries, Beulah Mae Bolt, Willis, Eula Lee Thompson, Huntingtown, Md., Frances Reed, Floyd. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel, Floyd with the Rev. Roy Turpin officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Maberry Funeral Home.
