PULASKI COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD CONSIDERS 1994-95 BUDGET

The Pulaski County School Board will be thinking ahead to its 1994-95 budget when it meets at 7 p.m. ThursdayFeb10 at the School Board office.

Superintendent Bill Asbury will present his proposed budget and go over the budget initiatives that were put into place for the current year. Board members will receive copies of the proposed budget before the meeting.

Shannon Turner and Diane Dixon, representing the Pulaski County Education Association, will present its proposal for teachers' salaries in the coming year.

The board also will consider taking part in a cooperative external diploma program with Giles and Montgomery counties and with Floyd County if it decides to join.

An Appalachian Regional Commission grant would allow the start of such a cooperative program next fall, in addition to the external diploma program that Pulaski County already offers adults through a computer General Education Diploma test.

In other business, the School Board will be asked to approve a list of proposed members for an advisory committee on programs for gifted and talented students, endorse the Virginia Education Association's school funding proposal to the state and renew its commitment to pay for 34 student slots at the Southwest Virginia Governor's School for the next two years.
