OBIT GARDNER, JAMES L.

GARDNER, James L., 76, of Salem, passed away Monday, February 7, 1994. He was preceded in death by his parents, Posey S. and Ada Gardner, and a brother, Loris Gardner. He was an X-ray technician at the V. A. Medical Center in Salem until his retirement in 1981. He is survived by his wife, Annie E. Gardner; daughters and sons-in-law, Anita G. Barden, Poquoson, Carolyn G. and Toby Garst, Salem, Mary Ann and Raye Penney, Baltimore, Md.; a sister, Lena G. Martin, Virginia Beach; grandchildren, Andy Barden, Jenny Barden, David Garst, Kevin Garst, Jamie Garst, Katherine Penney, and Alison Penney. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, February 10, 1994 at Central United Methodist Church, Salem, with the Rev. A. Howell Franklin officiating. Interment will be in Sherwood Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Central United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Lotz Funeral Home, Salem.
