Steve Davidson, president of the Roanoke Valley SPCA, said he did not publicly denounce former shelter Administrator Tammy Javier for her participation in protests at the Boar Walla Hunting Lodge in Alleghany County, as was reported in Tuesday's newspaper.

Davidson said he told her she was welcome to participate in protests as a private citizen, but not as a representative of the SPCA.
