SHAWSVILLE - Jason Light scored his 1,000th career point as the Buffaloes (13-2, 12-2) charged past the Shawnees (0-15, 0-13) in a Mountain Empire District game.
Light scored No. 1,000 on a free throw with 2 minutes, 57 seconds remaining in the third quarter, and his total of 20 points in the game gave him 1,015 in his career.
Ben Kiser added 10 points for the Buffaloes.
Jeremy Nichols had 21 points, including four 3-pointers, to lead Shawsville, and Corey Dow had 14 points. \

PEARISBURG - All nine Spartans scored as Giles cruised to a Mountain Empire District victory over the Maroon Tide.
Giles (9-7, 9-5), leading 21-14 at halftime, switched from a halfcourt zone defense to a full-court press in the third period. The result was a 55-26 advantage in the second half for the Spartans.
Mitch Reed led Giles with 12 points, and Patrick Steele and Anthony Myers scored 11 points apiece.

HILLSVILLE - Center John Wolford scored 11 of his 17 points in the second half in rallying the Cavaliers (5-11) to a non-district victory over the Maroons.
George Wythe (9-8) led 36-28 at halftime, but Carroll County turned to a 2-3 zone defense to shut down the Maroons' inside game. The Cavaliers outscored George Wythe 35-16 in the second half.
Forward Aaron Andrews led all scorers with 21 points for George Wythe.
Jason Kilbourne put in 14 points and Brian Hawks added 10 for Carroll County. \
