OBIT CARTWRIGHT, ELLA MAE MARTIN EARY

CARTWRIGHT, Ella Mae Martin Eary, 86, of Salem, died Wednesday, February 9, 1994, in a local nursing home. She was born in Franklin County; and was the last surviving child of 17 children; and resided in Salem for many years. She was a retired seamtress and was a honorary member of the Fort Lewis Volunteer Rescue Squad. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #2 in Falls Church, Va. She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell C. Cartwright. Surviving are two stepsons and one stepgranddaughter; many nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held Friday, February 11, 1994, 2 p.m. in Sherwood Memorial Park with the Rev. Michael L. Slaughter. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. Arrangements by John M. Oakey & Son, Salem.
