OBIT STEVENSON, ROBERT LOUIS
STEVENSON, Robert Louis, 77, of Bedford, passed away Tuesday, February 8,
1994, in the Bedford County Memorial Hospital. He was born February 16, 1916,
in Bronx, New York, a son of the late Robert L. Stevenson and Mary Cecelia
Garvey Stevenson. He was a 1939 Graduate of Roanoke College, a Special Agent
with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, was an Army Captain in World War II,
a member of the Society of Former F.B.I. Agents, and was a member of the Holy
Name of Mary Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by a son, John Gregory
Stevenson. He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Talley Stevenson; four sons,
Robert L. Stevenson III, Walla Walla, Washington, Wayne T. Stevenson,
Abington, Mass., James S. Stevenson, Dallas, Texas, Matthew Brian Stevenson,
Annapolis, Md.; one daughter, Mary Cecelia Bullen, Roanoke; one brother, James
W. Stevenson, Palm City, Fla.; 17 grandchildren. The family will receive
friends Thursday from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Updike Funeral Home, Bedford, and a
Vigil Wake Service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial
will be celebrated Friday, February 11, 1994, at 11:00 a.m. at Updike Funeral
Chapel, Bedford, by Father Jim Begley. Interment will follow in the Greenwood
Cemetery. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to
the Building Fund of Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church or your favorite
charity.
