LYNCHBURG - An 18-year-old accused of threatening to shoot a high school principal between the eyes pleaded guilty to brandishing a firearm on school property.
Wayne Horsley entered his plea Thursday in Lynchburg Circuit Court.
Minutes before Horsley threatened E.C. Glass Principal Howard Hurt on Oct. 19, a freshman had been approached in one of the school's hallways and a gun next held to his head.
Horsley had been barred twice from the school prior to the incident. He dropped out of school in the 11th grade.
Horsley began cursing at Hurt, pointed at the space between Hurt's eyes and threatened to shoot him. Hurt said Horsley's two friends had to keep him from attacking the principal.
Neither police nor school officials ever recovered a gun.

Allen taking a look at back-tax collection
RICHMOND - Gov. George Allen is considering whether Virginia should continue collecting back taxes that are the subject of a court dispute with federal pensioners.
Allen plans to discuss the matter with Attorney General Jim Gilmore, a spokesman for the governor, said Thursday.
Allen pledged in his campaign to work for a settlement with the pensioners, who are seeking up to $499 million in refunds of state income taxes that courts have held were collected illegally.
The pensioners have gone to court in an attempt to get refunds of state income taxes paid from 1985 to 1988. - Associated Press
Fairfax seeks access to hotel guest registers
FAIRFAX - Innkeepers and civil libertarians oppose opening Fairfax County hotel guest registers to police.
The proposal backed by county police would also make it a misdemeanor to register under a false name, subject to a $500 fine.
Hotel managers who refuse to provide guest information to police would face the same penalty.
Police argue that quick access to information about hotel guests would help them fight drug trafficking and other crimes.
"You can't go in and just do a fishing expedition," said Vic Glasberg, an Alexandria lawyer who works with the American Civil Liberties Union.
Fairfax Board of Supervisors Chairman Thomas M. Davis III played down the possibility of misuse by police and predicted the measure will pass when the board votes March 7.
