OBIT--LINKOUS, CHARLISE CRUMPACKER LESTER
LINKOUS, Charlise Crumpacker Lester, 94, of Christiansburg, died Thursday,
February 10, 1994, at Montgomery Regional Hospital. Mrs. Lester was the
daughter of Charles A. and Sarah Ella Boyerly Crumpacker and was born at the
Crumpacker Farm near Blacksburg on September 11, 1899. She attended Hollins
College. She was married to Dr. James B. Lester of Christiansburg and
Richmond, and after his death to James L. Linkous of Belmont. In Richmond, she
was active in numerous civic and church organizations including the King's
Daughters and Ginter Park Garden Club. She is survived by four stepsons; and
numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Lester was the owner of the Historic Yellow
Sulphur Springs Resort in Montgomery County, where she lived in, rented
cottages to several generations of students and families for 50 years. Weather
permitting services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at the Richardson-Horne Funeral
Chapel conducted by the Rev. Robert E. Crawford with interment in Westview
Cemetery, Blacksburg. The family will receive friends from noon until 1 p.m.
Saturday at the Richardson-Horne Funeral Home.
