HISTORIC UNDER-CHANNEL WALK MADE FOR CHARITY

A band of hardy Britons became the first people since the Ice Age to walk from France to England, trekking through the undersea Channel Tunnel in a charity walk Saturday.

Led by two-time Olympic gold medalist Daley Thompson, the 118 walkers set out during a freezing morning mist for the estimated 13-hour, 31-mile crossing to the English tunnel terminal at Folkestone.
