OBIT FERGUSON, KENNETH MACK
FERGUSON, Kenneth Mack, 77, of Glasgow, died Friday, February 11, 1994 in
the Shenandoah Valley Health Care Center, Buena Vista, Va. Mr. Ferguson was
born December 13, 1916 in Rockbridge County, a son of the late Samuel
Zachariah Ferguson and Ruth Austin Ferguson. He was a member of the Faling
Spring Presbyterian Church, the Short Hill Hunt Club, a life member of the
Glasgow Moose Lodge, and a veteran of WWII, serving in Tunisian, Sicilian,
Normandy, Northern France and Central Europe. Mr. Ferguson retired from
Burlington Industries after working 37 years and then owned and operated
Ferguson grocery, where he was well known for buying furs and ginseng. He was
preceded in death by a brother, Marvin E. Ferguson and a son, Stanley Mack
Ferguson. Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Reid Ferguson; one son, Kenneth Z.
Ferguson, Natural Bridge; two daughters, Mrs. Brenda F. Shirley, and Mrs.
Loretta F. Huffman, both of Glasgow; four sisters, Gloria F. (Dot) Trent,
Glasgow, Shirley F. Camden and Dora Jane Gilbert, both of Buena Vista,
Caroline F. Camper, Roanoke; six brothers, Releford Ferguson, Glasgow, Samuel
Ferguson, Natural Bridge, Erskine Ferguson, Buena Vista, Melvin Ferguson,
Lexington, Franklin Ferguson, and Boyce Ferguson, both of Buena Vista; and six
grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 15,
1994, at the Harrison Funeral Chapel with the Rev. H. Middleton Raynal and the
Rev. William K. Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in the Rockbridge
Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at
the Harrison Funeral Home, Lexington.
