RASCHID-LILLY

Karen Thorn Lilly and Michael Imran Raschid were united in marriage yesterday evening in a candlelight ceremony at Saint Margaret's Episcopal Church in Washington, D. C. The Reverend Dr. Vienna Cobb Anderson officiated.

The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Lilly of Draper, Va., and is a granddaughter of Mrs. Porter Franklin Lively and the late Porter Franklin Lively of Pulaski, Va. The groom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Bilal Raschid of Alexandria, Va.

The bride was escorted by her father and wore a white silk gown and a tiara, both adorned with pearls and Austrian crystal beadwork, and a cathedral length train and veil. She carried a bouquet of champagne roses and gardenias, accented with stephanotis and miniature ivy.

The bride's sisters, Mary Kristine Lilly of Blacksburg, Va., and Suzanne Franklin Lilly of Charlotte, N. C., served as maids of honor. They wore navy blue velvet and taffeta gowns, and each carried a candle surrounded by yellow roses, tulips, and irises, accented with ivy.

The bridesmaids were Jill Watson Ferguson of Virginia Beach, Va., Shannon Elizabeth Gorrell of Dover, N. H., and Frances Hyun-Jin Sonn of Washington, D. C. The bridesmaids wore the same style dress as the honor attendants, and carried candles with similar flowers.

Leila Zeashan Dutton of London, England, and Farah Michelle Raschid of Chambersburg, Pa., both nieces of the groom, were flower girls. They wore navy blue velvet and taffeta dresses and carried navy blue baskets of yellow sweetheart roses.

Michael James Schaengold of Bethesda, Md., was the best man. Groomsmen were Sohael Raschid, brother of the groom, of Chambersburg, Pa., Javade Chaudhri of McLean, Va., Thomas David Hickey of Summit, N. J., and Raja Kaul of Silver Spring, Md. Charles Patrick Murdter of Arlington, Va., and Young-Sup Nam of Washington, D. C., served as ushers. Omar Alexander Raschid of Chambersburg, Pa., the nephew of the groom, was the ringbearer.

The bride graduated cum laude from Foxcroft School and Wellesley College. She is presently employed as a senior paralegal in the Corporate Secretary and Board Relations Division of the Student Loan Marketing Association in Washington, D. C. The groom is a senior associate in the Washington, D. C., office of Winston & Strawn, the Chicago law firm. He graduated cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania and received a law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law.

After a honeymoon on St. John, the couple will reside in Arlington, Va.
