CELTICS GIRLS DEFEAT GAELS

Roanoke Catholic overcame foul trouble to take a 45-43 Blue Ridge Conference girls' basketball victory over visiting Holy Cross on Sunday.

The host Celtics (13-5 overall, 10-2 conference) are seeded No. 1 in the Northern Division and will play Hargrave Military in the first round of the conference tournament Tuesday night.

Junior center Abby Dickson finished with 23 points and 13 rebounds for Catholic, which led the rebounding 32-22.

The Gaels scored 20 points on free throws - eight each in the second and fourth quarters. Michelle Miller's 16 points led Holy Cross. Krystal England had 11. \
