COMMON REDPOLL NOT SO COMMON

Birders have reported seeing common redpolls in two spots in the Roanoke Valley. The redpoll is a sub-Arctic species that is an irregular winter visitor in the United States.

Norwood Middleton, a member of the Roanoke Valley Bird Club, also observed 40 to 50 common redpolls during a Highland County field trip.
