COVINGTON CRUISES TO PIONEER VICTORY

Keeno Jones scored 18 points and Covington bolted to an early lead in defeating Highland 90-47 in Pioneer District basketball Monday night.

Covington (10-7, 8-1) led 28-8 after the first quarter and scored the first 11 points of the second period to take a 39-8 lead.

Jones led a balanced Cougars attack, and Corey Hunter added 14 points. Eleven players scored for Covington.

T.J. Honaker led Highland with 15 points. \

SHAWSVILLE - Will Dodson scored 14 points to lead the Eagles to a Mountain Empire District victory over the winless Shawnees.

Rocky Gap led by eight points at halftime and the Shawnees never got any closer.

Tommy Jones led Shawsville with 16 points. \
