Aaron Dixon, 36, resigned Wednesday as principal of Huddleston Elementary after Lynchburg police officers arrested him on similar charges. Dixon allegedly molested the unnamed boy he counseled at Opportunity House in Lynchburg, a residential facility for juvenile boys placed by the court. Dixon had worked as a part-time counselor at Opportunity House for two years.
He was charged in Bedford County after the boy told investigators Dixon had also molested him in Bedford County between last November and Feb. 1.
Both charges are felonies, carrying maximum sentences of five years in prison.
Dixon served as Huddleston Elementary's principal since 1987. The school has an enrollment of nearly 200 students in kindergarten through fifth grade.
After his arrest Wednesday, Dixon was released on bond. No preliminary hearing date has been set in Bedford County, said Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney Randy Krantz.
