OBIT O'KEEFFE, GLADYS VAIDEN
O'KEEFFE, Gladys Vaiden, 78, of 501 V.E.S. Road, Lychburg, died Monday,
February 14, 1994 in Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the wife fo the late
John Jetter O'Keeffe. Born in Charles City Co., Va., she was the daughter of
the late Cowles Mead Vaiden and Mary Lee Barnette Vaiden. Mrs. O'Keeffe was a
graduate of William and Mary College in Williamsburg, Va., Johnston-Willis
School of Nursing in Richmond, Va. She was a Public Health nurse in Southwest
Virginia, served as a Red Cross nurse during WWII and ended her career as
nurse at Lynchburg College. Mrs. OKeeffe was a member of the Lynchburg Womans
Club, the Phi Sigma Alpha Sorority, former board member of the Y.W.C.A.,
Cordelle Crist Circle and a longtime member of Peakland United Methodist
Church. She is survived by a daughter, Kathy O'Keeffe of Roanoke; a son and
daughter-in-law, John Jetter and Chantall O'Keeffe Jr. of Lynchburg; three
grandchildren, Camm, Chantall Vaiden and Jete, all of Lynchburg; a
sister-in-law, Helen O'Keeffe of Tazewell, Va.; and numerous relatives and
friends. A funeral service will be held in Peakland United Methodist Church
Thursday, February 17, 1994 at 11 a.m. by the Rev. Steve Jones. Burial will be
in the family cemetery in Tazewell, Va. Thursday at 5 p.m. Those wishing to
make memorials, please consider Peakland United Methodist Church. Duiguid
Rivermont Chapel, Lynchburg, is in charge of arrangements.
