Giles (10-7 overall, 10-5 district) grabbed a 32-19 halftime lead and led 54-37 early in the fourth quarter.
Auburn (11-7, 10-6), which was led by Jon Reed's 22 points and Terry Milliron's 20, cut the deficit to nine points late in the game, but it wasn't enough.
Marty Smith nailed 6-of-7 seven free throws in the final period to ice the game for Giles. \

CHRISTIANSBURG - Rodney Perdue's driving layup with 3 seconds remaining lifted the Blue Demons to the non-district victory over the G-Men.
Graham (12-6) got off a desperation shot at the buzzer, but it fell far short.
Christiansburg (10-8) rallied from a four-point deficit in the final quarter to beat the G-Men for the second time in a week.
Benny Selfe led Christiansburg with 24 points. David Bailey's 16 paced the losers. \

FLOYD - The Buffaloes bolted to a 47-19 halftime lead and cruised to a Mountain Empire District victory.
Brian Harmon and Phillip Marshall each scored 18 points to lead Floyd County (14-2, 13-2).
Harmon had 14 points in the first quarter, when the Buffaloes seized control, 27-11.
Fort Chiswell (7-12, 6-11) got 13 points from Jody Burnett and 12 from Dyer Jackson.

SHAWSVILLE - Patrick Bailey gunned in nine 3-pointers as the Green Wave whipped the Shawnees in a Mountain Empire District game.
Bailey hit seven 3-pointers in the first half as Narrows (7-10, 7-8) took a 40-23 halftime lead. Shawsville (0-18, 0-16) had cut the deficit to 28-20 with two minutes remaining in the second quarter, but Bailey hit three 3-pointers to end the half as Shawsville went on a 12-3 run.
The Green Wave connected on 13-of-26 3-pointers. \

BLAND - Shannon Havens scored 10 points to lead the Rockets to a Mountain Empire District victory over the Maroon Tide.
Bland (10-8, 9-6) shot only 6-of-15 from the free-throw line but outscored Galax (4-11, 4-13) in the fourth quarter.
Matt Snow had 14 points for Galax, and Tito Crockett added 12.
Kevin King had nine rebounds for Bland. Jeff Ross had nine boards for the Maroon Tide. \
Blacksburg 57

TAZEWELL - Tony Wheeler scored a game-high 22 points as the Indians beat the Bulldogs to avenge a loss to Tazewell in Blacksburg earlier this season.
Jay Safford added 14 for Blacksburg (7-7), and Ben Araman scored 12.
Jason Strong led Tazewell (15-6) with 20 points. Kon Patterson added 17.
The game was tied 31-all in the third quarter, but Blacksburg opened up an 11-point margin.
Tazewell cut the lead to three points with 46 seconds remaining but missed two 3-pointers which would have tied the game with less than 20 seconds left.

NARUNA - The Golden Eagles broke open a close game with a strong fourth quarter en route to a Seminole District victory over the Generals.
Staunton River led 46-45 after three quarters and outscored William Campbell 25-13 in the final period.
Jeff Zimmerman had 27, and Cornelius Foxx scored 23 for the Golden Eagles (10-6, 10-6). The Generals (3-13, 3-13) were led by Robin Adams with 13 points, Randy Irby with 12 and Mark Blunt with 10. \

MONTEREY - Bobby Huffman scored a game-high 24 points as the Rockets downed the Rams in a Pioneer District game.
Gary Abbott added 12 points for Craig County (4-7, 3-5), which raced to a 32-16 halftime lead and coasted.
Jamie Botkin had 17 points and John Hull 11 for Highland (1-11, 0-9). \
