ROANOKE MAN CHARGED IN ESTRANGED WIFE'S RAPE

A Southeast Roanoke man faces multiple felony charges after being accused of handcuffing his estranged wife at gunpoint and raping her on Valentine's Day.

The woman said she was raped in a residence on Broadway Avenue Southwest shortly before 11 a.m. Monday.

According to police reports, the 26-year-old woman had been staying at the residence with her new boyfriend. She met him after leaving her husband more than a month ago.

The names were withheld to protect the identity of the woman.

The woman said she heard a door opening and thought it was her boyfriend. Her husband walked in, holding a pistol.

He ordered her to stand, handcuffed her and ripped her clothes off.

The woman said her husband then forced her to have sexual relations with him.

He fled but was arrested on charges of burglary, rape and use of a firearm in commission of a felony.
