OBIT MAY, WILLIAM H.

MAY, William H., 89, of Vinton, died Monday, February 14, 1994. He was born in Bedford County, and was a retired Power House Operator for the Norfolk & Western Railway. He was a Naval veteran of World War II and was a member of the Vinton Post #4522 of the V.F.W. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Dorothy Adkins, Eleanor Poole. Surviving are his wife, Myrtle Lyle May; three daughters and sons-in-law, Sally and Lenwood Adkins, Audrey and Oliver Kendrick, Rachel May Steele, John Poole, all of Roanoke; 9 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; a brother, J. Holcomb May, Mechanicsville, Md. Funeral services will be conducted from Oakey's Vinton Chapel at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 17, 1994, with the Rev. Dr. William L. Ross officiating. Burial will be in Sherwood Memorial Park. Friends may call at Oakey's Vinton Chapel.
