OBIT SLOAN, MARY LOUISE
SLOAN, Mary Louise, 62, of Rocky Mount, daughter of the late Cabell and
Mary Bennett Dudley, died Monday, February 14, 1994 to be with the Lord. She
died in Lewis-Gale Hospital in Salem, Va. Mrs. Sloan was a member of Franklin
Heights Baptist Church and was retired after 41 years of employment from the
Virginia Board of Medicine, Portsmouth, Va., and Blue Ridge Optical Company,
Roanoke, Va. Surviving is her beloved husband of 48 years, Lawrence Sloan of
Rocky Mount; brothers, Joseph M. Dudley and Curtis Dudley, both of Rocky
Mount, and Aubrey G. Dudley Sr. of Roanoke; one sister, Pauline D. Hodges of
Rocky Mount; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Dudley of Roanoke and Juanita B.
Dudley of Rocky Mount; one aunt, Hazel B. Emerson of Roanoke. Also surviving
are numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral services will be
held Thursday, February 17, 1994, at 2 p.m. in the Lynch Funeral Home Chapel,
with the Reverend Larry Holland officiating. Burial will follow in Franklin
Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Wednesday night, February 16,
194, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Lynch Funeral Home, where friends may call after 2
p.m. Wednesday afternoon.
