Roanoke Festival in the Park is accepting applications for college scholarships to three students who intend to major in the arts.
The scholarships of $1,000, $750 and $500 for each year in college will be awarded to high school seniors or college freshmen.
Deadline is April 15, and applications are available through Roanoke-area high school art, English, drama or music departments. Applications can also be received by mail by calling 342-2640.
Kazim band re-elects director and manager
Frank Williams has been re-elected director of the Kazim Brass Band.
J.R. "Ace" Wall was re-elected manager.
Other officers are: Danny Ryan, assistant manager; David Waltz, assistant director; Wes Earnest, secretary-treasurer; Mike Campbell and Garrett Hudgins, quartermasters; Michael D. "Mickey" Cundiff, property manager; and Bob McDaniel, librarian.
Bob Rolley, P.C. Bernard, Carl Lee, Waren Orr and Tommy Bowers were elected to the board of governors.
Veterans' organization elects officers for 1994
Waynard Caldwell recently has been elected president of the Roanoke Valley Veterans Council for 1994.
Other officers elected are: Harvey Barker, vice president; Harold Worrell, treasurer; Dallas W. Proax Jr., secretary; Ronald Zoll, sergeant-at-arms; and Earl Worley, chaplain.
Elected to the board of directors were: Sloan H. Hoopes, Dan Karnes, Andy Bryson, Milton Aliff, Thomas R. Plymale and Steve Goodwin.
