SHAWSVILLE - Mitch Reed scored 20 points, including four 3-pointers, as the Spartans handed the Shawnees their 19th straight loss.
Shawsville (0-19, 0-17) trailed by eight points with two minutes left in the second quarter, but Reed and Anthony Myers combined for three 3-pointers, and Giles pulled away.
Marty Smith scored 13 points for the Spartans (11-7, 11-5). Myers and Patrick Steele each added 10.
Tommy Jones led the Shawnees with 19 points, and Jeremy Nichols had 15.

BLAND - The Buffaloes capitalized off turnovers and fouls in the fourth quarter en route to a Mountain Empire District victory. Floyd County made five of nine free throws in the last period.
Jason Light scored 24 points and grabbed nine rebounds for the Buffaloes (15-2, 14-2). Phillip Marshall had 17 points, and Jamie Warren chipped in 12.
Kevin King led the Rockets (10-9, 9-7) with 15 points. Andy Selfe had 10, and Shannon Havens grabbed nine rebounds. \

Galax 50 NARROWS - Scott Vaught scored 17 points, and Bryan
Pruett added 10 to lead the Green Wave to a Mountain Empire District win.
The Maroon Tide held Patrick Bailey, who averages 19 points a game to seven, all in the third quarter, but couldn't stop Vaught and Pruett. Vaught grabbed 10 rebounds and Pruett pulled down 10 for Narrows (8-10, 8-8).
Jeff Ross scored 14 points for Galax (4-14, 4-12), and Matt Snow chipped in 13. \

NEW CASTLE - Robby Huffman scored big from the foul line for the Rockets and the result was a Pioneer District win over the Knights in overtime.
Huffman was 15-of-17 from the free-throw line, including 6-of-7 in overtime, as Craig County (5-7, 4-5) hit 10-of-14 foul shots in the extra period.
Huffman finished with 23 points and a school-record 25 rebounds.
James River (3-13, 2-9) led by 12 points in the third period, but the Rockets stormed back with their trapping defense. Down three points with seven seconds remaining, Huffman was fouled at the 3-point line. He sank all three free throws to send the game into the extra period. \
