FLEMING UPSETS PULASKI

Ashaki Johnson scored 22 points, grabbed eight rebounds, had seven assists and made all eight of her free throws in the final quarter as William Fleming upset Pulaski County 44-33 in Roanoke Valley District girls' basketball Wednesday night.

The loss puts Pulaski County (13-5 overall, 9-2 in the RVD) into a tie with Cave Spring atop the district standings with one game remaining for each team. Fleming (10-7, 6-5) plays at Cave Spring on Saturday, and Pulaski County entertains Franklin County on Friday.

The Colonels connected on 12 of 14 free throws in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Cougars 20-9 in the period.

ROCKY MOUNT - Patricia Campbell scored 20 points and grabbed 15 rebounds to lead the Eagles past the Patriots in a Roanoke Valley District game.

Franklin County (8-8, 4-7) led 22-12 at halftime and coasted. Carolina Mays led PH (0-17, 0-12) with 12 points.
