OBIT MARTIN, RUTH BEHELER

MARTIN, Ruth Beheler, 89, of Rt 2, Penhook, died Tuesday, February 15, 1994, in the local hospital. Mrs. Martin was the widow of William Lawton Martin and was preceded in death by a stepson, Kenneth Martin; a stepdaughter, Verlie M. Lawrence; a grandson, Stephen Glenn Martin; a great-grandson, Zachary Whitten. She was a graduate of the Ferrum Training School and taught school in Franklin County for 43 years and was a member of the Snow Creek Christian Church. Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Hannah M. and James R. Graves, Penhook; one son and daughter-in-law, Myrl A. and Nancy Martin, Penhook; two stepsons and three stepdaughters-in-law, Burton and Bonnie Martin, Roanoke, Deward and Dorothy Martin, Fla., her grandchildren, Phyllis Martin Stowe, Sherry Whitten, Kim L. Albert, Carolyn Rogers, Jim Martin, George Martin, Laura Martin, Laura Lee Wilson, Roslind Davidson, Elaine Turner, Allen Lawrence, Brent Martin, Jana Williams, Robert S. Graves; 17 great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Olga Smith, New Castle; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 2 p.m. in Snow Creek Christian Church with the Rev. Berlin Hanks officiating. Interment will follow in the Martin Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Snow Creek Christian Church. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service, 342 S. Main, Rocky Mount.
