CARDWELL GETS 4TH TRIPLE-DOUBLE IN RAIDERS' WIN

Marcus Cardwell recorded his fourth triple-double of the season with 27 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists, and North Cross rolled to a 93-73 victory over Lynchburg Christian Academy on Thursday in Virginia Independent Conference boys' basketball.

Teammate Hal Johnson had 21 points, nine rebounds, seven assists and six blocks for North Cross (11-8 overall, 10-4 in the VIC). Monty Smith scored 16 points.

Jason Brown scored 19 points to lead Lynchburg Christian (7-11, 6-7). Tom Terzakos added 17 points.

North Cross held a six-point lead after the first quarter and was up 48-34 at halftime. The lead was 73-50 after three periods.

Tony Joyce and Mike Kolnok combined to score 25 of the Celtics' 38 points in a wild fourth quarter that carried the visitors to a Virginia Independent Conference victory over the Eagles.

Roanoke Catholic (12-15, 5-9) trailed by 15 points in the third quarter, but outscored Roanoke Valley Christian 38-25 in the final period.

Deon Royer led the Celtics with 22 points and Kolnok finished with 20. Jemarh Patterson contributed 21 points and 20 rebounds, 11 at the offensive end, and Joyce had 18 points.

Billy Fluker scored 20 points to lead the Eagles (9-13, 7-6). Scott Apjok added 19 points and 10 rebounds.
