OBIT SIMPKINS, RALPH CARL

SIMPKINS, Ralph Carl, 71, of Blacksburg, died Wednesday, February 16, 1994, at Montgomery Regional Hospital. Mr. Simpkins was a Navy World War II veteran and was a member of the V.F.W. Post #9898. He was a retired employee of the Va. Tech Security Department. Mr. Simpkins was preceded in death by his father, John Walter Simpkins. Surviving are his wife, Cora Kathleen Ballard Simpkins; one daughter, Hilda Roberts; and three grandsons, David Perry, Mike Perry and Jonathan Roberts, all of Blacksburg; his mother, Ethel Smith Simpkins, Blacksburg; two sisters, Ruth Martin, Blacksburg and Nannie Marshall, Reynoldsburg, Ohio; one brother, James Simpkins, Christiansburg; eight nieces; thirteen nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 19, 1994, at McCoy Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Hugh Springer officiating. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. in the Ellison Cemetery, Rock Camp, W. Va. The family will receive friends Friday, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
