HANCOCK WON'T SEEK TERM AS MAYOR

Gary Hancock has issued a statement, practically by remote control, that he will not seek a sixth term as mayor of Pulaski.

Hancock, appointed to that office after the death of Mayor Raymond Ratcliffe in 1985, has been elected five times since then.

He and his family currently are on vacation in Israel and Egypt. But his law firm issued the statement he left behind. He said he was not running again because of personal and business obligations.

Andy Graham, the senior member of Pulaski Town Council with 24 years on the governing body, had said earlier he wanted to see what Hancock was going to do before making any statement about his candidacy. He has now thrown his hat into the ring to run for mayor.

Graham has served previously as vice mayor for a total of eight years.
