OBIT--SHUMATE, ELMA LOVE

SHUMATE, Elma Love, 83, of Martinsville, died Friday, February 18, 1994. Born March 21, 1910, in Franklin County, she was a daughter of the late James William Love and Mary Betty Frith Love. She was the widow of Jesse I. Shumate Sr. Surviving are two sons, Jesse I. Shumate Jr., Bassett, James Wesley Shumate, Greensboro, N.C.; three sisters, Mrs. Iris Curlee, Martinsville, Mrs. Gladys Phillips, Salem, Ore., Mrs. Pauline Ellis, Escondido, Calif. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Monday in Oakwood Cemetery. Dr. Chevis Horne will officiate. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church for the building fund. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at McKee Funeral Chapel.
