Melissa Diana Murray and Vincent Todd Brooks were married February 12,
1994, in Layman Memorial Baptist Church with Rev. Gary Fowler officiating. The
reception was held at Layman Memorial Baptist Church. The maid of honor was
Lynn Hiner, friend of the bride. Matron of honor was Stacey P. Couch, friend
of the bride. Flowergirl was Lauren Thacker, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Steve
Thacker, friends of the groom. Joseph C. Mayberry, friend of the groom, was
best man. Ushers included James R. Murray Jr, brother of the bride, and Jerry
Tucker, friend of the groom. Ringbearer was Jacob Powell, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Dan Powell, friends of the groom. Candlelighters were Jerry Tucker and James
R. Murray, Jr. The guestbook was attended by Cheryl McNeeley. The bride wore a
satin gown with overlayed antique lace. She carried a bouquet of white roses
with pearls. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James R. Murray, Sr.,
of Hardy. She graduated from Franklin County High School and from Virginia
Western and is attending Averett College. She is employed by the Roanoke City
Police Department. The groom is the son of Ms. Barbara Ann Jones of Madison
Heights. He graduated from Amherst High School and attended Central Virginia
Community College. He is employed by Elizabeth Arden. The newlyweds will live
in Vinton after a wedding trip to Myrtle Beach, S. C.
