Medeco Security Locks Inc. has appointed JOEY DALESSIO vice president of sales and LEN BLACKWELL vice president of marketing.
Dalessio had been the national sales manager of the door security division of Medeco. He joined the Salem company in 1991. In his new position he will lead the company's global sales efforts.
Blackwell had been vice president of operations, where he directed the manufacturing area for two years. He will focus his team's efforts on the reduction of time required to develop mechanical and electronic products.\ APPRAISERS
VON W. "BUCK" MOODY III of Roanoke was elected to a two-year term as chairman of the regional committee of Region V of the Appraisal Institute. He will continue as a member of the board of directors for the remaining two years of his term representing Region V, which consists of Indiana, Kentucky, North Carolina, Ohio, Virginia and West Virginia. Moody is vice president of First Union Corp. He was formerly real estate valuation director for Roanoke for nearly five years.

PATTI L. DUNBAR has been named vice president-marketing of the Roanoke Regional Chamber of Commerce. She will be responsible for developing the annual membership drive, promoting the chamber's mission and programming, and increasing membership retention. Before joining the chamber, Dunbar was marketing manager for Blue Ridge Beverage Co. in Salem.

WILLIAM A. IRVIN III has been named assistant district manager for the Roanoke district of the Equitable Life Assurance Society. Irving, who was previously employed with Investors Savings Bank in Roanoke, joined the life insurance company in January 1993. He is a registered representative with the National Association of Securities Dealers and a member of the Roanoke Valley Association of Life Underwriters.

PHILIP W. PARKER, an associate with the law firm of Woods, Rogers & Hazlegrove in Roanoke, was awarded the 1993 Emerson G. Spies Award by the Young Lawyers Division of the Virginia Bar Association at its winter meeting in Williamsburg. The award recognizes the young lawyer whose efforts during the year have reflected enthusiasm, loyalty and dedication for the work of the association. Also at the meeting, MATTHEW W. BROUGHTON, a partner with the Roanoke firm Gentry, Locke, Rakes & Moore, was named 1994 chairman-elect of the association's Young Lawyers Division. He will become chairman in 1995. Additionally, G. FRANKLIN FLIPPIN, a founding member of the Roanoke firm Glenn, Flippin, Feldman & Darby, was appointed to the association's executive committee.

DR. JAMES T. MILAM has joined the staff of North Roanoke Family Physicians, a division of Carilion HealthCare Corp. Milam received his bachelor of science degree in chemistry from the University of Richmond. Following his graduation from the University of Virginia School of Medicine, he completed an internship in surgery at the University of Kentucky Medical Center. He completed the requirements of the family practice residency program at Roanoke Memorial Hospitals, most recently as chief resident. His professional certifications also include advanced trauma life support, advanced cardiac life support and pediatric advanced life support.
