Citizens assisted Red Cross volunteers at the temporary shelter at the Blacksburg Middle School and many good samaritans helped their fellow citizens by clearing fallen branches and trees from the property of those who were unable to complete the clean-up on their own. With your help our crews hope to restore the beauty and cleanliness of our town within the next few weeks.
We acknowledge the hardships and inconveniences caused by disruption of vital services during this emergency and we appreciate your patience, support and ingenuity in adapting to the difficult conditions.
Crises are not easy, but it's inspiring to observe a community pulling together for the greater good. We are proud of our town and its wonderful citizens. It is a privilege to serve the special people of Blacksburg. Thank you so very much for your help and support.
Ronald Secrist , town manager
Blacksburg
Thanks from Radford official
I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere appreciation to the employees of the City of Radford, the citizens of the city and all the extra work crews who have gone above and beyond the call of duty to restore some degree of sanity after the problems encountered during the ice storm of the past week.
Never have I witnessed the cooperative attitude, neighbor helping neighbor, the compassion shown for others in a time of need.
In the next few days as you drive throughout the city and have an opportunity to do so, stop by and thank the city employees for a job well done. Maybe even a pat on the back for their untiring efforts during the recent ice storm.
David Worrell,
City councilman
