In one day?
On the same hole?
Chris Hoff of Roanoke performed the feat Sunday at Brookside Par-3 Golf Course in Roanoke, acing the seventh hole twice with a pitching wedge.
"I've never had a hole in one before," said Hoff, 42. "If I hadn't been playing with the lady who owns the course [Kathy Dodd], nobody would believe me." The shot also was witnessed by Brian Hoff.
Chris Hoff said he hasn't been playing much golf lately, so the first time he walked up to the elevated green on the 70-yard hole, he was "surprised" to find his ball in the hole. "The second time, I was just laughing too hard to be surprised. Everybody was just going crazy."
Said Dodd, "This has never happened here before.
"The reaction to the first one was, `I can't believe it,' " she said. "On the second one, he stood up there, hit it and said, `Wouldn't it be hilarious if it went in again?'
"When we got to the top of the hill, we didn't see the ball. I knew it didn't go over the green, and when we looked in the hole, there it was. Because he hasn't played that much, he just couldn't understand the rarity of this. It just knocked my socks off."
Afterward, however, Hoff began to appreciate his feat.
"She [Dodd] ought to be buying me a car or something," he said.
