CELTICS TAKE 3RD PLACE

P.L. Bratton scored 10 of his 16 points in the fourth quarter as Roanoke Catholic pulled away from Peninsula to take an 85-80 boys' basketball victory for third place in the State Catholic Tournament.

After starting strong and taking a 49-38 halftime lead, Roanoke Catholic slipped in the third quarter and was outscored 21-12. Peninsula tied the score at 67-67 with six minutes to play in the game, before Bratton, who also had 10 rebounds, helped lift the Celtics to victory.

Jemarh Patterson had 23 points and 13 rebounds for Roanoke Catholic (9-14), Deon Royer added 21 points and Greg Broderick 13. The Celtics were 28-of-34 on free throws.

Peninsula Catholic (14-14) was led by Patrick Dulin with 29 points.
