Over the weekend, Workman made a dozen daytime and four nighttime landings in her radar-jamming EA-6B Prowler jet on the carrier Dwight D. Eisenhower.
"It was a great feeling to finally be done," she said.
Seventy-three aviators qualified for carrier operations last week as the Norfolk-based Eisenhower conducted training exercises off the Virginia and North Carolina coasts.
Starting next month, the Eisenhower will start receiving the first of an estimated 502 women among its 6,000-member crew, said Command Master Chief Petty Officer Bob Conklin. The ship will be the first Navy warship to integrate women since Congress lifted the combat-exclusion law last year. - Associated Press
