Virginians aren't the only ones holding out. The Internal Revenue Service says returns for the entire country are down, especially in states that have experienced rough weather.
Still, tax deadlines are coming regardless of how much sleet, snow and ice are in the streets. The federal deadline is April 15, and the Virginia deadline is May 1.
According to figures the state Department of Taxation released Thursday, as of Feb. 14, the state had received 195,114 state tax returns. That's down from the same period in 1993, when 233,613 were filed. - Associated Press
