TRACTOR-TRAILER CRASH KILLS DRIVER

A South Carolina man was killed when his tractor-trailer skidded off Interstate 77 and down a 50-foot embankment Monday in Carroll County.

Michael W. Cox, of Goose Creek, S.C., was driving north near the Poplar Camp area. State police said Cox entered a left curve at approximately 10:15 a.m. when he lost control on the slippery road. He crashed through a guardrail, down the embankment and into a rock wall.

Police said Cox, 28, died at the scene. No other vehicles were involved.
