CHILDHOOD EDUCATION AT GREENVALE SCHOOL

Greenvale School's early childhood education workshops and training sessions will begin today and continue through May 4. The free sessions will be held at the school at 627 Westwood Blvd. N.W. in Roanoke from 12:30-2:15 p.m.

Workshop topics are:

Today: Celebrating Diversity: Katherine Bucca, a teacher at First Baptist Childcare Center, and Lynn Hill, an administrator at Rainbow Riders Childcare Center, will share a large selection of multicultural activities.

March 23: Tactile Play in the Classroom: First Baptist Childcare Center teacher Carolyn Krisha will discuss advantages of hands-on tactile exploration and demonstrate how to use various materials to provide soothing alternative play.

April 12: Making Math Happen: 218 Hands-On Math Activities: Julie Wineman and Julie Lenth, teachers at Rainbow Riders Childcare Center, will present 218 hands-on math activities covering 13 math concepts.

May 4: Discovering the Active Infant: Planning a Stimulating Curriculum for Infants From Six Weeks to 16 Months of Age: Margaret Nester, director of infant from the Rainbow Riders Childcare Center, and Denise Renkenberger, a teacher from the Rainbow center, will present ways to engage the infant in stimulating activities.

A series of parenting classes also will be offered at the Greenvale School today through March 28 from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesdays. Instruction is geared for parents and children ages 4-8. Registration deadline is Feb. 21 and space is limited.
