OBIT SKINNELL, ETHEL SPRAKER
SKINNELL, Ethel Spraker, 84, of Roanoke, died Monday, February 21, 1994 in
a local hospital. She was a native of Wythe County and recently made her home
in New Castle with her daughter and son-in-law. She was preceded in death by
her husband, Monsie S. Skinnell, daughter, Doris Lee Smith Wagner, son, Jack
H. Smith and stepson, Roy Skinnell. Mrs. Skinnell was a member of Christ
Lutheran Church. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Nancy Smith and
Robert (Bob) Huffman, New Castle; stepdaughters, Mrs. Frank (Inez) White,
Newport News, Goldie Arrington, Audrey Richardson, both of Roanoke; six
grandchildren; twenty-one great-stepgrandchildren; sister, Blanche Porter,
Wytheville; stepsister, Ruby Farmer, Roanoke; many loving nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Christ
Lutheran church, 2011 Brandon Ave. S.W., Roanoke, Va. 24015, or the Craig
County Rescue Squad, New Castle, Va. 24127. Funeral services will be conducted
2 p.m. Wednesday at Christ Lutheran Church by the Rev. Willis S. Buchanan and
the Rev. Ron Swartz. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. The
family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Oakey's
North Chapel.
